My bully pulpit to rail against anything and everything
My music selection keeps getting slimmer

The 2004 Presedential election is the bane of my musical existence, or at the least it has awakened me to the hatred and fear that not only permeates Hollywood but has surfaced in the music industry. I stumbled on a story not long after seeing one of my guitar heroes, John Fogerty, playing for Kerry. It broke my heart to see this man of principles prostituting himself to an audience of weak- minded, limp-wristed, dope-smoking pansies. It turned my stomach. It did.
Now the movement has gathered a little momentum, aided by such colossal minds and prodigious thinkers as Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, The Dixie Chicks, R.E.M., James Taylor, Jurassic 5, John Mellencamp, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Keb' Mo, The Dave Matthews Band, Babyface, and countless other no name, no talent hacks that call themselves musicians. Now, I understand some of the people I've mentioned would be anti-Bush, but I grossly underestimated the ignorance and the fear that has enveloped the pop music industry. I've never seen this much unadulterated hatred so completely exposed in my entire life.
I'm a musician myself, you see, but not in the "calibre" of the aforementioned. I've not yet been jaded by success. Or personal failings. And contrary to these modern (and not so) day hippies, I also served my country. I still believe in my country, though that belief is beginning to flag somewhat. It confuses me endlessly why these people and others out there are on such a warpath to remove President Bush. Logically, it does not compute. It must be on an emotional level. If that be the case, let me warn you now; emotions are overrated.
Reflecting on the names I've given, I've concluded that drugs are bad, m'kay? I'm almost certain every one of these "artists" is a half step from christening their own Betty Ford Clinic. Unlike the real rock and rollers, these are the dregs of the genre, not quite talented enough to burn out like Hendrix, or Joplin, or Bon Scott. Now, that being said, I also blame society for this. Society approved of these degenerates, allowed them to flourish, nurtured their "talent", clamored for more, hoisted them on our shoulders, gave them voice, and nodded like a Parkinson's victim when they opened their blackhole lips to spew their crap. I include myself in this, so don't think I'm speaking down to any of you. I am presently kicking my left butt cheek because I've worn the right one out.
Why do we let these imbeciles speak for us? Really, most are not nearly as intelligent or as coherent as we are. Yet we continually take a back seat and let these cretins guide us while we mindlessly skip off the cliff of humanity. They are the Pied Pipers, we are the rats. Their music sucks and I want my money back. If you really read the comments given by these pillars of community, you'll see they have absolutely no clue what they are saying. They are so tied up with themselves they have forgotten what they ever stood for.
These people aren't pro-Kerry, they're just anti-Bush. They hate. They can't remember love. They don't even love themselves, except in the most narcissistic of ways. They don't stand for anything but fear, loathing, division and hate. They don't believe in self anything anymore. They "write" songs about the common man, yet they have no recollection of being common. They design this facade to blend in and gain this sort of trust, but it's all smoke and mirrors. It's an act, a play to boost sales, to grab a niche market. Reality has no place in their world.
Their purpose in joining forces on a tour of battleground states is to "unseat" President Bush. As if this were a monarchy or a dictatorship. He won the electoral votes. Period. End of discussion. Everything announced by the left in this country since his election has been venomous and drips of hatred and contempt. Listening to it from the media has made the last four years a miserable experience. Yet it has also steeled my conviction in right. It reinforces many thoughts I have had on society and civilization and the downward spiral the liberals keeping trying to steer us towards.
So, as I remove some of my favourite artists from my collection of music, I think I'll clean my gun this week. I'll have a full day Saturday playing CD skeet. Good shooting to you all!

You took the words right out of my mouth.  I wonder sometimes how many of the population subscribes to that school of though.

I can tell you from experience that it's really fun.  Little glittering bits of CD fly all over the place....much better than clays!
